Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, creative, and self-motivated teacher with a passion to serve, who desires to work in a supportive faith community.

There are two openings. One role will primarily provide math and science instruction to our small elementary school of K-4th and the other role will primarily provide math and science instruction to our small middle school.

Holy City Christian Academy desires a teacher who shares the values and mission of Holy City Christian Academy. Applicants will implement a multi-grade curriculum while integrating Christian faith and values, and treating each student as a unique child of God in a safe, supportive, and challenging academic environment.

This position requires but is not limited to the following duties:

• Demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Holy City Christian Academy, a deep love of children, and a strong faith in God.
• Identify, select, modify, and create innovative, interesting, and effective, and often hands-on instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and at different ages, in collaboration with other staff.
• Create and support individualized work plans for each student.
• Facilitate student learning across grade levels.
• Create a positive and collaborative learning environment that excites multi-aged students and enables them to engage actively in meaningful learning experiences.
• Physically engage with children on their level—working on the floor with them, kneeling to speak one on one, etc. Have the ability to kneel, sit, stand for long periods of time.
• Be comfortable spending a lot of time outdoors in our outdoor learning area, and walking long distances.
• Be responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times.
• Build classroom community and relationships with students, families, and staff, participating in a powerful team.
• Interact effectively with and respond to all parent communication in a positive, professional, empathetic, and timely manner.
• Strive to recognize, nurture, and challenge each student.
• Assess student learning on a consistent basis and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Have strong organizational and planning skills, and a strong work ethic.
• Have strong instructional and classroom management skills.
• Be a team player: Have maturity, humility, strong work ethic, follow-through, willingness to respond positively to feedback and a “whatever it takes” attitude.
• Be willing to adapt to new ideas and a dynamic school culture.
• Maintain an organized and clean learning environment.
• Work cooperatively with assistants and other team members.
• Commit to constant professional and personal growth through reflection, feedback, and collaboration.
• Attend and participate in meetings, professional development, and continuing education (e.g., some Montessori classes).
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Educational Background and Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Montessori certification a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
