Position Overview: Join our close-knit team as an Associate Attorney specializing in Estate Planning, Trust Administration, with a focus on Trust and Probate Litigation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, serving individuals and families in Grand Rapids and the surrounding areas with their estate planning and probate needs. Please note that this is not a remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and assistance to clients in estate planning matters, including the drafting of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
  • Guide clients through the trust and probate administration processes, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and fiduciary duties.
  • Handle all aspects of trust and probate litigation, including contested trust administrations, will contests, and fiduciary disputes.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and other court filings, and represent clients in court proceedings.
  • Collaborate closely with partners, and support staff to deliver high-quality legal services and achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain accurate case records, billing entries, and correspondence in accordance with firm policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and in good standing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Dedication to providing exceptional client service with integrity and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred 3 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, and trust and probate litigation.
  • Strong understanding of Michigan laws, regulations, and procedures related to estate planning, trusts, and probate matters.
