Job Title this Position Reports to: Supervisor, Manufacturing

Job Summary:

Responsible to monitor and support personnel output and works to actively remove barriers to success identified within area of responsibility. Acts as the first point of contact for associates within area to address both process and personnel concerns.

Performs a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical or measurement product assembly operations on product components, assemblies, or sub-assemblies. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing, welding, and fitting on assembly units. Responsible for following all operating procedures to the highest standard. Executes on production operations as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.

Works collaboratively with manufacturing associates, engineering, quality, and leadership to execute on production requirements. Supports engineering experimentation and operational improvement initiatives as requested. Participates on teams to identify opportunities for improvements within production area. May assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.

Has fully mastered skills discipline and trains other associates. Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs. 

  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment at all times. Identify, address, and react to any unsafe or hazardous situation. Conduct safety training for Operations team members and holds all associates accountable for working in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for meeting quality, efficiency and safety requirements and standards both as an individual contributor and as the Group Lead.
  • Fosters a positive and engaged team environment in which all associates are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Ensures team members are always adhering to standard operating procedures.
  • Organizes and verifies all components prior to completing assembly operations.
  • Assembles complex sub-assemblies and final assemblies following all applicable procedures and documentation.
  • Executes complex soldering operations as required per IPC standards.
  • Read, interpret, and analyze complex schematics and blueprints required to ensure proper assembly.
  • Utilize complex mechanical tools, electrical tools, measurement devices, soldering equipment, crimpers, and other hand tools.
  • Completes all quality and assembly documentation required for functional area and in alignment with quality management system requirements.
  • Consistently able to meet standard cycle time for production. Ensures team production schedule requirements are achieved. Creates and communicates weekly production schedule and allocates headcount resources adjustments throughout the week as required to ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Able to apply expert level working knowledge of test equipment required within Operations area independently.
  • Report all non-conformances and complete NCEs as appropriate. Review non-conforming materials for accuracy and manages daily NCE process to support MRB material disposition.
  • Ensure that processes are developed and executed in a manner which supports all Hologic Quality Standards. Focuses on continuous improvement of processes and challenges current conventions to drive improvement.
  • Independently performs and/or leads root cause investigations with Operations team utilizing advanced troubleshooting tools. Assist other associates within area with troubleshooting.
  • Perform process validations as required and suggest process improvements to Supervisor or engineering team. Implements process improvements within area of control and scope of responsibilities.
  • Aid manufacturing engineering and quality teams with investigations. Document and report findings through quality management system.
  • Documents processes for procedure updates, complete redlines, and assist with new procedure development in alignment with engineering direction.
  • Able to work independently with little to no supervision on the most complex tasks within scope of training. Advises other associates in a formal leadership manner.
  • Demonstrate good problem-solving skills and make recommendations for corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Leads managed daily improvement process and able to speak to all MDI metrics within Operations area. Represents area at higher level MDI Tier meetings as required.
  • Maintain and execute 5S within work area and supports 5S execution throughout area of responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and holds team accountable for following Good Manufacturing Practices and Lean manufacturing principles within area.
  • Complete all training requirements in a timely manner and maintain accurate training records. Ensures all training completed on-time within area.
  • Conduct inventory transactions to maintain integrity
  • Conduct inventory transactions to maintain integrity of inventory system.
  • Timely and complete processing of work order transactions utilizing Oracle system.
  • Utilize Oracle and Agile to retrieve necessary documentation and ensure accurate information.
  • Able to complete all necessary transactions independently and provide support to other associates as necessary.
  • Regular and punctual attendance. Ability to adhere to standardized production schedule for position and ability to work overtime to support production needs as necessary.
  • Coordinates associate schedules including scheduling overtime whenever required to achieve production targets and/or eliminate backlogs.
  • Ensure all members of the team within their area of responsibility adhere to policies and standards set for the organization.

Qualifications: 

Education

  • Preferred Minimum Non-Technical Degree: High School (H.S./GED) or Associate Degree

Experience

  • Preferred Minimum Non-Technical Degree: 5 Years 
  • Experience with Oracle ERP system or Agile Product Lifecycle Management system is beneficial. 

Skills

  • Proficient working understanding of Microsoft Office platform including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and OneDrive required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow all written procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision and as a member of a team.
  • High-level of attention to detail and focus on quality.
  • Detail oriented and accurate.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Trained to execute 5 roles within the Operations team and cross-trained into 1 role outside core functional area.
  • Certified as a Subject Matter Expert for 3 roles within the Operations team.
  • IPC 610 / 620 Certification is beneficial. 
  • Knowledge of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling best practices is beneficial.

Must follow all applicable FDA regulations and ISO requirements.
