ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)
All Material Handlers
• Operates a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to be able to look in the direction of
travel on a continual basis.
• Operates a lift truck all shift.
• Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary
equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refers defects or repairs to
supervisor/ maintenance.
• Moves controls to drive battery-powered lift trucks and transport materials between
loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
• Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and
swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
• Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure
material or products for transport to designated areas.
• Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
• Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
• Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
• Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.

Unloader
• Unloads products from inbound carriers (truck and rail cars).
• Verifies that the product received is identified and counted accurately.
• Inspects condition of all received product.
• Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
Extraordinary Service for Over a Century.
Preloader
• Receives and reads preload orders.
• Fills orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging that product on a spot
utilizing stacking guidelines.
• Inspects and loads trucks and arranges the products with the cube of the trailer according
to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
• Uses scanning devise and computer as needed to perform tasks.
• Checks printout for shortages, over-counts and incorrect model numbers.
• Corrects shortages, over-counts and incorrect models where possible.
Truck Loaders
• Inspects trailers before loading products.
• Counts units on preload spot and compares with shipping documents.
• Moves products from the preload spot, and directly from storage when required, into the
trailer.
• Arranges the products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading
practices and guidelines.
• Properly secures the load for travel.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONSCompetency Statement(s)
• Attendance - Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time. Ability and
willingness to work the voluntary/mandatory overtime that is required during the busy
season.
• Communication - Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in a courteous
and professional manner with others. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written
instruction.
• Mathematics- Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and
division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to
compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
• Language – Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers. Ability to read and
interpret documents such as receivers, invoices, operating instructions and procedure
manuals. Ability to read and write simple sentences.
• Diversity Oriented - Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender,
race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
• Relationship Building - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with customers, co-workers and management.
• Productivity - Ability to maintain a level of production that meets or exceeds the
established guidelines. Ability to work independently without interruptions.
• Paperwork - Completion - Ability to complete necessary paperwork neatly and accurately
and according to established guidelines. Properly count, document or scan the number of
units as needed by the function that is being performed.
• Paperwork - Verification - Ability to verify paperwork necessary to ensure customer is
receiving correct product. Ability to inspect condition of product received and product
going out to ensure quality.
• Organized – Ability to follow a systematic method of performing a task.
• Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
• Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Adaptability - Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
• Autonomy - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect Team Member
safety.
SKILLS & ABILITIES• Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
• Experience: One to two years related experience.
• Computer Skills: Basic scanner technology.
• Certificates & Licenses: Valid State Driver’s License; Forklift Certification preferred.
