Hollman is the world's largest manufacturer of wood and laminate lockers. We pride ourselves on staying on the cutting edge of our industry -- continually offering new designs and finish options and producing those using the most modern computer-controlled equipment. Hollman is seeking a Buyer to join our creative and energetic team.
The Buyer is responsible for planning, forecasting, product buys, PO receipt management, and vendor/supplier maintenance. This position will help originate and manage vendor profiles and contracts working directly with sales, customer service, project management, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and places orders for goods and services.
- Maintains procurement records such as purchase orders of materials/goods purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Contacts vendors to negotiate prices and monitor delivery schedules and expedite delivery of priority items.
- Manage vendor relationships and assist in building effective partnerships.
- Maintains accurate information on alternative vendors and items purchased.
- Keeps abreast of market conditions and price changes.
- Works closely with other departments or groups under minimal supervision.
- Manage Item setup and maintenance.
- Determines methods of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
- Ensure shipping and timeline compliance from supplier partners.
- Work with inventory and warehouse teams to help maintain stocked inventory and seamless transition of goods.
- Assist department in developing and implementing purchasing strategies for products.
- Liaise with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices.
- Manage inventory levels to protect the company from backorders as well as excess surplus liability.
- Bachelor's degree or 5 years of experience in purchasing.
- Knowledge of material management and procurement function.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Ability to use tact and skill in dealing with other teams, management, and vendors.
- Good negotiation skills.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Must know dimensional lumber units of measure.
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to compose effective and efficient reports
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
