Position Name: Cook 2 - Line Cook
Location:Holiday Inn Resort Jekyll Island, GA
Compensation:$18.00/hour
About us:The Holiday Inn Resort Jekyll Island is opening a new restaurant that is set to redefine dining on the island. Our coastal open-air restaurant will showcase regional seafood and ingredients, providing a unique dining experience for our guests. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that will make a mark on the island’s restaurant scene.
Job Description:
- The first 3 weeks will focus on training, obtaining ServeSafe Food Handler and TIPs certifications, and getting oriented into our company culture/operating guidelines.
- Upon restaurant opening, responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Assist in prepping high skilled, high quality foods for guests based on established standards
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Ensure food production is consistent with the established menu and recipes
- Control quality, consistency, taste and food cost
- Be up to date on all guest services, promotions and events in the Hotel
- Communicate all relevant information to management regarding: Ordering, Food preparation, Staff, equipment, safety and sanitation, guest feedback.
- is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of food items for the line, portions and prepares cold or hot items
- You are the key member making a mark on our guest experience by making them feel welcomed, comfortable and attended to
Requirements:
- Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time without sitting or leaning.
- Prior experience as a cook in a restaurant setting is required
- Hotel experience a plus
- High school diploma required/GED
- Long hours sometimes required
- Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms
- Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels
- Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range
- Ability to walk long distances
- Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
