Job Description:

Responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of the hotel, ensuring it is always a safe and secure place to stay and work, by providing general and preventative maintenance and performing necessary repairs in and on all aspects of the hotel. Ensure the entire property is being maintained, from the building to the parking lot, from plumbing to electrical to mechanical to HVAC to structural.

You would be responsible for the supervision and quality of their work, while also ensuring best practices and safety procedures are followed.

The Maintenance Department oversees plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, structural, and other systems. You and your staff should be prepared to paint, patch, mediate, treat, and replace any areas or items of concern.

You will be expected to work to understand and anticipate the needs and priorities of the hotel and to meet or exceed work related expectations while proactively maintaining this asset and thereby protecting its value and safety.

Job Duties:

• Handle all maintenance and repair issues regarding all systems and surfaces
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and any needed follow up actions
• Maintain or repair specialized equipment or machinery either yourself or by subcontracting a 3rd party as needed when authorized to do so
• Practice safe work habits and wear protective safety items as needed
• Perform all duties to meet or exceed specifications and established standards
• Observe equipment and utility meter readings on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis; ensure they are functioning correctly and report any issues to management
• Notify management concerning any needs for major repairs requiring approval whether due to dollar amount, scope of repair, or potential business interruption
• Conduct ongoing maintenance programs to avoid system breakdowns or failures
• Routinely inspect all areas of the property to proactively identify issues
• Create or maintain a schedule of maintenance action items that need to be completed on a regular and revolving basis (i.e. air, water, and pool filters)
• Complete maintenance logs of work orders and repairs, including charges related to the cost of materials used or ordered and time spent/labor hours required
• Be on call, available, and accessible to management and all other departments
• Complete safety training and certifications and follow all company safety, security, and emergency policies and procedures
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to your supervisor or management
• Protect hotel property by reporting damage, theft, tampering, and other concerns

Requirements:

At least 2 years of maintenance, repairs, or handyman experience

At least 1 year of supervisory maintenance, repairs, or handyman experience

Highschool diploma or equivalent, vocational training or certification a plus

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Ability to take and follow verbal or written instruction

Organizational skills, communication skills, and time management skills

Ability to exercise judgement, self-control, and authority as needed

Ability to show flexibility in response to change and adapt to and accommodate new methods and procedures

Must be able to meet the physical and functional requirements or demands of completing operational and administrative tasks with or without accommodation

Assume responsibility and accountability for the supplies you’re given and for the work that you do; understand other departments rely on you and your department

Must be honest, dependable, punctual, and be available/on-call if and when needed

Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Must project a professional image at all times through both appearance and demeanor

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $9.00 - $12.00 per hour
