Overview

The Electrician is responsible for all electrical maintenance activities at the plant. The incumbent is responsible that electrical work is completed is a safe, efficient and timely manner and in compliance with environmental requirements. The position will include the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. Overtime may be required and shift may be adjusted for business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Promote electrical safety and safe work practices in the workplace with subordinates.
  • Responsible to motivate, train and educate the Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians to maximize their productivity and the quality of their work.
  • Responsible to promote electrical preventive and predictive maintenance programs. This includes conducting systematic inspections on all plant electrical equipment, collection of quantitative data, its’ organization and analysis using a variety of traditional as well as technically advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Responsible for the accurate documentation of electrical schematics and stores spare parts inventory.
  • Participates in defining, developing and executing equipment and process modifications to improve reliability, reduce costs and/or improve safety. Provide electrical knowledge and support for plant maintenance and PLC control projects.
  • Reliable plant electrical equipment operation
  • Reliable plant instrumentation equipment operation
  • Routinely walk the plant to inspect electrical and mechanical equipment and parts and systems in need of repair or replacement.
  • Communicate with Plant Management on a daily basis to discuss items in need of repair.
  • Maintain electrical/mechanical systems associated with crushers, conveyor belts, pulleys, pumps, screens and screen bearings.
  • Prior to undertaking any diagnosis or repair, conduct a job safety analysis to identify and isolate any hazards such as energy (lock-out, tag-out), working at heights, confined spaces, etc.
  • Always ensure all safety guards are on equipment when it is energized
  • Report all incidents, accidents, near misses and first aid events to Supervisors as soon as possible. Complete incident reports as instructed.
  • Attend and actively participate in regular safety toolbox talks, production meetings and trainings
  • Adhere to all Company Safety, Environmental, Compliance, Human Resources and Plant policies and procedures.
  • Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components/systems. Installs, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, electrical motors, generators, industrial storage batteries, hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems and other electrical components.
  • Periodically tests and troubleshoots electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Required Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years heavy industry electrical & instrumentation experience.

  • Experience with troubleshooting/installation 120V – 480V electrical systems
  • PLC and relay logic troubleshooting experience a plus.
  • Proficient in hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Welding skills are desirable.
  • Strong safety-orientation
  • Ability to work overtime.
