Job Description

Are you a creatively driven and design-oriented person that loves to develop creative solutions for marketing projects? Are you relentless when it comes to finding the best ways to visually communicate a message? Do you love unicorns and working with a team?

The marketing strategist’s primary responsibility will be to design, prepare, and submit technical proposals with the oversight and leadership of a strategic marketing manager. Working in collaboration with the marketing manager, they will adhere to the established proposal development process while leveraging the market sector knowledge to support growth. In addition, conduct client and market research and cultivating strong working relationships with management and technical staff. They will lead the proposal process and help ensure a consistent HW brand is being represented. Attention to detail is needed to ensure adherence to brand standards, strategic vision and messaging.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

PROPOSALS

Coordination

  • Take the lead role in directing, managing, and developing high-quality, responsive proposals, including assisting with go/no-go decisions and identifying win themes.
  • Serve as internal point-person throughout the RFP analysis, kickoff, development, QC, and production process.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to other marketing proposal team members.
  • Schedule and assist in proposal kickoff meetings.
  • Establish team deliverables schedule, arrange meetings, and oversee final proposal submission to client.
  • Coordinate with and request needed items from internal staff.
  • Coordinate with subconsultant firms to request needed information and track receipt and compliance.

Planning & Production

  • Work with staff to develop content for each proposal, incorporating provided market and client research and technical expertise.
  • Review client Requests for Proposals/Qualifications (RFP/Qs) and create needed items list and proposal details summary for technical team.
  • Monitor proposal content to ensure compliance to RFP/Q requirements, evaluation criteria, and technical requirements.
  • Compile, write, edit, and format content for proposals in InDesign for compliance with RFP/Q, defined pursuit strategy, and firm brand standards.
  • Review and ensure that scope, staff qualifications and experience, data, narratives, etc. are accurate.
  • Proofread and edit documents/materials and ensure overall quality of deliverables.

Post-Submittal

  • Lead internal debrief assessing successful and unsuccessful strategies and what can be improved.
  • Oversee proposal closeout, including saving new data such as resumes, project sheets, etc. to central server or in cloud wiki.

MARKET SECTOR RESEARCH

  • Conduct market sector research
  • Stay up to date with industry and market sector trends and best practices.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with management and technical staff.

PRESENTATIONS

  • Lead the production of interview materials.
  • Assist in strategy development, if requested.

OTHER

  • Train and mentor junior marketing team members.
  • Track pursuit submission wins and losses and report to market sector principal.
  • Perform quality control reviews of other marketing staff’s responses to RFP/Q.
  • Conduct research to inform design concept decisions.
  • Transform complex ideas and processes into graphic representations, telling a visual story.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and technology.
  • Help ensure a consistent HW brand is being represented. Attention to detail is needed to ensure adherence to strategic vision, brand standards and messaging.
  • Work with studio leads to develop materials to promote their studio, print, digital, ect.
Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience

  • B.A. or B.S. in marketing, graphic design, mass communications, journalism or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of marketing experience, at least 1 year of AEC experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, proficiency in InDesign strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft computer applications, including Word and PowerPoint.
  • Works productively and efficiently, balanced with a high-level of quality.
  • Excellent organization/planning/time management skills.
