Hockey In New Jersey is Hiring an Administrative Coordinator Near Newark, NJ

Founded in 2003, Hockey in New Jersey (HNJ) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides a supportive, year-round hockey program for socioeconomically disadvantaged and underserved youth. In partnership with the New Jersey Devils and the National Hockey League's Hockey is for Everyone™ initiative, we offer participants the opportunity to learn and play ice hockey at no cost. Based in Newark, NJ at the Ironbound Recreation Center, we are the second-largest youth diversity program in the United States with offerings in Newark, Englewood, Jersey City, Belleville and Montclair.

Job Summary:

Hockey in New Jersey (HNJ) inspires youth to develop life skills, succeed academically, and create positive relationships through the sport of hockey. We are seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Administrative Coordinator to support our growing team. In this important role, you will play a key part in ensuring our operations are running smoothly on and off the ice. If you have a passion for hockey and a commitment to ensuring a seamless experience for our program participants, we encourage you to apply for this position.

This position is based at our Newark, New Jersey location.

Responsibilities:

1. Office Management.

· Ensure the efficient day-to-day administrative operations of our organization.

· Maintain organized records.

· Schedule and coordinate meetings and events for staff, partners and participants.

2. Board of Trustees Engagement.

· Coordinate scheduling of Board meetings.

· Assist in preparation of meeting agendas, minutes and supporting materials.

3. Participant Registration and Attendance.

· Track and monitor participant registrations, ensuring all paperwork is complete and submitted.

· Ensure attendance is taken and logged for all practices and games.

· Maintain a log of injury reports.

4. Coach/Volunteer Management.

· Track and log SafeSport background checks for all coaches and volunteers.

· Ensure all coaches have obtained USA Hockey certifications.

· Coordinate education and training programs (teambuilding, practice plans small games, etc).

· Schedule evaluations for paid coaches.

· Manage sign-up process for parent volunteers.

5. Communications.

· Work with HNJ’s agency partner to prepare and distribute communications via SportsEngine to participants and their parents/guardians.

· Serve as a point of contact for program participants and their parents/guardians, addressing inquiries and concerns.

· Assist in creating and posting content to social media platforms.

· Monitor social media channels.

· Manage and update content on website.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree.

· Excellent organizational and communication skills.

· Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accurate records.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Passion for youth hockey.

· Coaching certification or experience coaching youth hockey is a plus.

· Familiarity with SportsEngine and Bloomerang is a plus.
