Summary

Job Title: Ho-Chunk, Inc. Elder Ambassador

Department: Community Development

Reports to: Program Manager

Location: Winnebago, NE

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

Assists with the implementation of the mission and values of Ho-Chunk, Inc. by serving as the liaison between the company and Winnebago Tribe or community bords and committees, and at public events. organization in carrying our various administrative functions, representing the business, and assisting by sharing institutional and/or generational knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize company software programs for data entry, preparing presentations, and written documents or materials.
  • Serves as a Community Liaison
  • Attends various internal company meetings to gain knowledge on current corporate and business activities of Ho-Chunk, Inc.
  • Attends Winnebago Tribe and community board or committee meetings to share information on the company an assist with answering questions about Ho-Chunk, Inc. when necessary.
  • Attend and facilitates additional representation at community events.
  • Periodically teaches or instructs visitors, interns, employees, etc. on the Winnebago History, Institutional knowledge, and Generational Knowledge.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding sensitive materials.
  • Assess the effectiveness of company processes and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist with orientation and training of entry level and level II Ambassadors.
  • Serve as a company representative in the community and within the organization.
  • Utilizes educational background to advance both company and partner initiatives in area of study.
  • Drafts documents and completes other writing and research assignments
  • All other job-related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
  • Completes and submits verbal and written reports.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    • This is a part-time position.
    • Days and hours of work vary.
    • Nineteen hours a week.

    Travel

    Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

    Experience

    • Detail-orientated, self-motivated
    • Ability to work on assigned projects independently
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to write and document accurate summaries of meetings as well as progress reports on assigned activities.
    • Individual must adhere to legal professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy
    • Proficiency in typing and basic computer knowledge required
    • Ability to work collaboratively and build professional relationships
    • Maintains a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company insurance provider/program
    • Must be a tribal elder 55 yrs and retired.

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Minimum of & years’ experience working in the Winnebago community. Experience as an elected official and background working with students in Winnebago highly desired.
