HNL Lab Medicine is Hiring a Phlebotomist Near Tripoli, PA

Full-time, 40 hours per week, day shift, Monday-Friday with Saturday rotation

Our patients are more than just test tubes. We understand the impact each test we analyze has on our patients' lives and we never take that responsibility lightly. We operate more than 50 patient service centers in Pennsylvania and work with more than 10 hospital systems.

SUMMARY:

Collects clinical laboratory specimens and performs tasks associated with patient registration, order entry and specimen processing with general supervision. Performs waived testing with general supervision. Provides logistical support to team members and general assistance to customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Performs venipunctures. Collects other specimens and explains the proper collection procedures for specimens provided by the patient. Clarifies orders and pre-analytical test requirements when appropriate.
  • Makes accurate, initial assessment of specimen suitability according to criteria outlined in the Laboratory Handbook and department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Processes stores and transports specimens according to the Laboratory Handbook and SOP’s.
  • Responds to customer inquiries for information regarding specimen requirements and testing schedules.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in specimen requirements and collection devices.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and ensure a meticulous work area.
  • Provides on-call and mobile service as required.
  • Assist in the orientation/training of new staff members.
  • Reports collection statistics, patient wait times and patient satisfaction surveys as required.
  • Participates in the Continuous Service Improvement and continuing education programs.
  • Must properly record and document necessary data on expense reimbursement (mileage reimbursement)
  • Properly records and documents necessary expense reimbursement (Mileage Reimbursement) following established electronic processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 6 months to 2 years related experience and/or training preferred. Phlebotomists are placed in levels I, II or three based on experience and performance
