HMP Builders is Hiring a Construction Foreman Near Tonawanda, NY

A Construction Forman is responsible for overseeing daily operations at a worksite to ensure the completion of projects in a safe and efficient manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, motivate, and oversee 4–6-person crew.
  • Handles discipline of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating day to day operations according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel.
  • Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors.
  • Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets and procedures.
  • Effectively using heavy and light equipment, depending on the jobsite/assignment.
  • Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Accurately measuring, cutting, and shaping lumber, wood, and other building materials.
  • Erecting temporary structures such as scaffolds and hoists.
  • Performing repairs on existing framework structures that are damaged or structurally unsound.
  • Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably.
  • Regularly reporting project status to supervisors, site engineers and other officials.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills providing clear orders, explaining complex information workers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks to lower-level managers, subcontractors and construction workers.
  • Technical skills for interpreting construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings.
  • Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensuring construction phases are completed on time so that the next phase can start.

Education and Experience:

  • Related construction experience required.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with roof framing and wood construction required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to work some Saturdays, when needed.
