HME is Hiring a Manufacturing Engineer II Near Carlsbad, CA

HME is currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer II. Under general supervision, Manufacturing Engineer II will provide technical support to the manufacturing floor to ensure optimum producibility of products and perform production support activities. The Manufacturing Engineer II assists with developing test fixtures and production tools to improve the manufacturing floor efficiencies, as well as provides costing, status, and other reports as necessary. 

What you will do in the position:

  • Sets up key equipment and processes in PCA (stenciler, profiles of the reflow oven using the KIC Program, Rework Station, Selective Soldering Machine, etc.) and trains assemblers as required.
  • Evaluates new product designs (documentation and equipment needs).
  • Specifies manufacturing processes, and prepares board-level Manufacturing Instructions (-57s).
  • Learns basic operation of the Drag Solder Equipment, SMT Pick and Place Equipment, performs troubleshooting, prevent maintenance, and repairs as required.
  • Advocates and adheres to Lean Manufacturing Thinking and Principles.
  • Conducts time and cost estimates.
  • Recommends fixtures and tooling which can help production.
  • Coordinates 2nd Shift problems and issues with 1st Shift personnel.
  • Provides SMT Programming backup.
  • Suggests design ideas to ensure new products are manufacturable, reliable, and cost effect
  • Thinks/acts with the customer in mind. Committed to quality customer service with a consistent, positive, can-do attitude to both internal and external customers.
  • Uses Lean thinking and problem-solving techniques to identify and eliminate root problems. Continually looks for ways to eliminate waste and makes suggestions for improvement.
  • Has established a track record of producing work that is highly accurate, demonstrates attention to detail, and reflects well on the organization.
  • Recognizes problems and responds. Systematically gathers information, sorts through complex issues, seeks input from others, addresses the root cause of issues, makes timely decisions, and provides communication to appropriate parties.

What you will need to succeed in this position:

  • Proficient with MS Office, Windows, and Internet
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems
  • Strong understanding of electronics theory
  • Strong drafting knowledge
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Experience with design documentation standards
  • Ability to think and work independently and collaborate with others
  • Experience with SMT equipment
  • Experience in Contract Manufacturing
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • AA Degree (2 years college) - Preferred
  • BS Degree a plus
