JOB DESCRIPTION Hamilton Lane is looking for a client-facing Insurance Solutions Product Specialist to join our growing asset management team. Along with acting as a liaison between sales and investments, the candidate will partner across the organization with the Investments, Distribution and other functional groups teams to help Hamilton Lane build relationships, deepen trust, and develop new business with Chief Investment Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Risk Officers, and their staff. This includes a focus on the design, communication, and delivery of a range of products, services, solutions, and analytics. The Insurance Solutions Product Specialist will help set the strategic direction for engagements with Life, P&C, Health and multi-line insurers across an array of strategies and look at entire multi-sector/multi-asset portfolios. RESPONSIBILITIES The Insurance Solutions Product Specialist will partner with both investments and distribution to promote and drive the growth of Hamilton Lane’s insurance business. Key deliverables for the team include: Developing innovative portfolio solutions recommendations to meet the needs of insurers. Providing portfolio, asset class, and security level optimization using regulatory capital, accounting, and economic capital models. Identifying product and platform focus areas for the sales team by providing key insights into the relative value and attractiveness of asset classes, providing periodic sales training, and helping to align Hamilton Lane’s services with needs of global insurance companies. Providing expert support in client/prospect meetings to advance opportunities for single mandate and strategic partnerships. Providing detailed competitive analysis of insurance companies and their peer set using insurance databases, finding opportunities, and developing target lists. Conducting portfolio stress testing and modeling and providing key descriptive portfolio characteristics and risk metrics. Maintaining expertise in and providing updates on industry regulation which impacts our clients and services. Spearhead engagements leading to growth in Hamilton Lane’s 3rd-party clients (breadth/number of clients, depth of services for each, growth of existing clients). Building Hamilton Lane’s brand with insurers globally by working with the marketing team on various initiatives, including thought leadership, market commentary and recommendations, digital presence, and other promotional materials for papers, presentations at sponsored conferences and events. QUALIFICATIONS As an external-facing member of our asset management team, critical responsibilities include liaising between distribution and investments and serving as a markets, regulatory, and portfolio expert to our clients and prospects. 5 years of successful Insurance related GA asset management or a role working directly or indirectly with insurers. Experience as an Insurance or Fixed Income product manager or in insurance client service or product marketing is a plus. Willingness to travel as required to meet internal and external client needs. Expect 20-50% traveling globally, especially in the US, Europe, Asia, Canada, Bermuda and Caymans Bachelor’s degree. MBA and/or CFA, FSA, CAIA, etc. is preferred. Passion for lifelong learning and mentoring. Knowledge of asset class structuring and how to most efficiently structure insurance-sensitive portfolios. Ability to synthesize large data sets and create visualizations and compelling displays to interpret and share findings and recommendations. Proactive time management and focus on the highest probability of success and valuable activities. Development of new products and solutions for insurance clients. Ability to build trust through credibility, reliability, intimacy, and a focus on our clients. Bias towards action and execution with willingness to take calculated risks, ask questions, and remain accountable for results. Concise and intuitive in both written and spoken language. Adept at synthesis to tell a story and arrive at a compelling conclusion. Strong investment acumen, especially in Private Alternatives.
