Prime Responsibilities and Major Factors in Evaluating Performance:
1.Train, examine and certify NDT personnel in one or more disciplines (x-ray, fluorescent penetrant, grain etch and/or magnetic particle inspections) in accordance with all applicable agency and customer specifications.
2.Establish, promulgate, and maintain departmental procedures and work instructions in accordance with all applicable agency and customer specifications.
3.Train and approve auditors, technicians, and administrative assistants to monitor and report regularly on the status of all materials, equipment, and personnel.
4.Maintain a high level of proficiency in computers and software applications, developing and approving techniques personally or through subordinate level II inspectors.
5.Support and participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement efforts endorsed by the various functional departments and outlined in the approval business plans.
6.Initiate containment and/or corrective action to prevent known or potential rejects from shipping.
7.As applicable to Level III discipline(s), maintain intimate knowledge of radiographic, die penetrant, grain etch and/or magnetic particle inspection equipment and related paraphernalia, perishable supplies, as well as basic measuring, test and calibration equipment.
8.Exposure to the following is mandatory; techniques, specifications, procedures, work instructions, image processing methods and materials, emulsions, solutions, suspensions, lead sheets, penetrameters, wax patterns, ceramic cores, castings, machined components, and assemblies.
Additional Responsibilities:
1.Follow all safety requirements as stated on the job safety card.
2.Complete all paperwork associated with the job, retaining all forms and test results.
3.Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
4.Establish and approve techniques in accordance with agency and/or customer specifications.
5.Prepare, administer, and grade level I and level II Inspector exams.
6.Verify proper inspection through audits of operators and processes.
7.Gather and classify product and process related data as defined by Quality management and engineering.
8.Perform final audits.
9.Establish the guidelines for maintaining records of documents required for shipment.
10.Receive customer training and certification where required.
11.Handle, collect, contain, and dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with company policies and procedures, reporting spills and discrepancies to supervision or management.
12.Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
13.Ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with the Company’s Code of Conduct.
14.Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
1. Associates degree in applicable field.
2. Vision requirement of 20/20 or better in at least one eye, per the J1 standard as well as color perception.
3. Color Perception: 100% correct identification of medically accepted color plates such as the Ishihara test. Ability to distinguish and differentiate between the colors used in the method for which certification is sought.
4. Must have evidence of passing level III written and practical exam(s) in radiographic, die penetrant, grain etch and/or magnetic particle inspection (e.g., current certifications).
5. Must possess ability to work with customers.
6. Travel may be required.
7. Computer skills are required: HP Inform, Data Express, MS Office suite, database, and SPC.
8. Quality control experience in investment castings or machined components are desired.
9. Must possess one additional year experience beyond the NDT Level II requirements.
10. Must be knowledgeable about and comply with NAS 410, ASTM E 1417, ASTM E 1444 and ASTM E 1742 standards. Must also be prepared to comply with military standards called out by contract.
11. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
