Job Description

  • Provide E&IC design support to proposal/project teams in the planning, execution, and commissioning for projects related to HZI Anaerobic Digestion, Power to Gas, Waste Fuel Boilers, Flue Gas Treatment and other product opportunities.
  • Review and coordinate work of other E&IC design, internal and external, in the execution of proposals and projects ensuring cost, quality, and schedule requirement are satisfied.
  • Assist with determining engineering scope for the electrical discipline on complex projects for Front End Engineering and Design (FEED), Engineering-Procure (EP) and Engineering-Procure-Construct (EPC), and Build-Own-Operate (BOO) type projects.
  • Preparation of E&IC documents such as Specifications/Datasheets, Electrical Load Lists, Instrument Lists, I/O Lists, Control Logic and Functional Descriptions, Single Line Diagrams, Instrument Location Drawings, Schematics, Interconnection and P&IDs for both proposals and projects.
  • Ensure HZI equipment and system designs are compliant with HZI Standards, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and local or national codes.
  • Assist in developing EI&C standard symbology and structures for P&ID, PFD and other design-based templates within COMOS engineering application. Maintain related databases for generation of project and proposal documentation. Identify and evaluate improvement opportunities related to cost and/or schedule alternatives, options, and solutions and present clear and concise fact-based recommendations.
  • Assist in the coordination and maintenance of E&IC core knowledge-base for HZI products as well as adapt and configure established European designs to comply with North American market requirements.
  • Participate in Site Layout, 3D Model, and P&ID Reviews, as well as safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP)
  • Identify issues (problems, value improvement opportunities) and help clarify areas of complexity during all phases of the engineering design work.
  • Seek ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in all work. 
  • Assist with the development and maintain compliance of work instructions, standard practices, policies and procedures, endorsing a safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office Software. 
  • Some knowledge of NEC required
  • Working knowledge of P&IDs required
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification and protection techniques a plus
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety (IEC 61511) a plus
  • Knowledge of DCS, PLC, HMI/MMI, SCADA, programming, control and systems design is a plus.
  • Knowledge of COMOS a plus
  • 2 years of engineering experience in relevant industries
  • On-site/field experience preferred.
  • Experience in some or all of the of the following industries, in order of preference;
    • Process
    • Power
    • Renewable Energy
    • Gas Processing
    • Chemical
    • Waste Management
  • Good organization skills with the ability to multitask in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, IEC, IEEE, ANSI/ISA, NEMA, etc. codes and standards for electric motors, components, instruments, monitoring/control systems, hazardous area classifications, etc.
  • Work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Must facilitate good working relationships with superiors, peers, and direct reports.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor in a team environment.
  • Exhibits high degree of initiative.
