Who We Seek
Hispanic Federation (HF) seeks a dynamic, engaged Vice President for Development Strategy and Major Gifts to work closely with executive leadership on devising strong, sustainable fundraising strategies, create and implement workflows to ease inter- and intradepartmental work, and serve as a champion or HF’s work to funders, major donors, and foundation staff.
The successful candidate will be an individual who understands and is passionate about the mission and vision of HF, exemplifies its core values, can articulate its mission to donors and prospects in a way that both educates and compels them to give, and provide a vision for the growth of HF’s grant and individual donor portfolio. Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience meeting 8 figure annual fundraising goals utilizing multiple fundraising channels, experience in supervising an experienced team of grant writers and fundraisers, and an understanding of systems needed for organizational success in the fundraising arena.
Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President for Institutional Development, the Vice President for Development Strategy and Major Gifts works closely with the executive team, including the President of Hispanic Federation, and the Board of Directors to manage all aspects of the Federation’s fundraising activities and initiatives. Hispanic Federation seeks a seasoned fundraising professional with a demonstrated commitment to the Latino community.
Position Specific Responsibilities
Revenue Development: As part of senior leadership team, the Vice President for Development Strategy and Major Gifts will identify new opportunities to expand organizational funding from charitable or earned sources and design, plan and lead successful new fundraising channel initiatives based on well-crafted strategies.
Donor Relations and Cultivation: The Vice President for Development Strategy and Major Gifts will assess and institute best practices as needed while producing a comprehensive donor relations plan in of support organizational fundraising efforts. The VP will respond to donor concerns and/or requests, provide relevant program information to increase donor awareness, and support with stewardship. The VP will foster a positive, ongoing relationship with donors and ensure that long-term relationships are forged and maintained through proactively educating donors on outcomes and results of HF’s efforts. This will involve the design and implementation of growth and retention strategies with existing donors and opportunities to forge new donor relationships. The VP will oversee the development and management of donor cultivation and fundraising events and play a leading role in fundraising for the annual gala.
Leadership and Team Development: The Vice President for Development Strategy and Major Gifts manages and nurtures the Development staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance; contributes to continued growth of organization through team development; participates in senior leadership team discussions and Board of Directors decisions. The VP also participates in Board meetings and serves as staff resource for the Board’s Fundraising Committee.
Communications, Branding and Marketing: The Vice President for Development Strategy and Major Gifts will work closely with the Vice President for Development, the Senior Vice President for Institutional Development, and the Vice President for Communications Strategy to build a communications plan that supports all fundraising and program efforts. The VP will understand, communicate, and enforce the organization’s values, policies, guidelines and practices with their communication to funders and major donors. The VP will maintain and update organizational brand standards and communicate and enforce execution of the brand. The VP will partner with public relations efforts to ensure brand representation and adherence across in-house advertising, graphic design, social media, direct mail, website and in communications such as the annual report and other mediums.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Compensation
The salary range for this position at $100,000-and is commensurate with experience. Compensation includes fully paid medical, dental, vision insurance; access to flexible spending for medical and transportation; and a 403 (B) retirement plan available at start, with organization match after 6 months of service.
