Position Overview:

The Powder Coating Maintenance Supervisor is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation and longevity of the powder coating equipment. This position requires keen attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and technical expertise in maintaining and repairing powder coating machinery. The ideal candidate will proactively identify and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repair:

  • Work as part of a highly motivated and professional team of mechanics. 
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on powder coating equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting components for wear and damage.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Replace worn or defective parts as needed, following manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance procedures to prevent breakdowns and prolong equipment life.

Calibration and Adjustment:

  • Calibrate powder coating equipment to ensure accurate and consistent application of coatings.
  • Adjust settings and parameters to achieve the desired coating thickness, texture, and appearance.
  • Monitor equipment performance during operation and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality standards.

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables required for powder coating maintenance and repair.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies as needed to prevent shortages and delays in maintenance activities.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including repair logs, service reports, and equipment manuals.
  • Document equipment modifications and upgrades for future reference and regulatory compliance.
  • Report any safety hazards or compliance issues to appropriate personnel and participate in corrective actions as needed.

Training and Collaboration:

  • Provide training and guidance to production personnel on proper equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as production and engineering, to implement process improvements and equipment upgrades.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and industry best practices related to powder coating equipment maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical or electrical fields preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of electrical/mechanical maintenance experience
  • Proven experience in maintaining and repairing powder coating equipment or similar industrial machinery.
  • Use of both hands and capable of lifting a maximum of 50 lbs, and able to work at heights
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, pneumatic systems, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) is desirable.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • OHSA 10-HR training certification or equivalent and an excellent safety record
  • Proficient with email and Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical 3-phase voltage and electrical safety.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to equipment emergencies outside the regular schedule.
  • Provide own basic tools.
  • Additional skills in machining, welding, fabrication, rigging, and/or die maintenance is beneficial

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work overnight as the shift starts at 10:00 pm on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. The shift ends the following morning at 8:30 am.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, kneel for extended periods
  • Must be able to reach, pull, and twist repetitively as needed
