Training Structure The AFP Driver Academy program will consist of three training phases: CDL-A training, finishing training, and on-the-job training. Drivers without a CDL-A will complete all three training phases. Existing CDL-A holders with less than two years of commercial driving experience will only complete finishing training and on-the-job training phases.
We are partnering with a third-party service, 160 Driver Academy, to conduct CDL-A and finishing training. Once drivers are selected for the program, they need to clear background check. Post clearing background check, local 160 Driver Academy representative will reach out to these drivers to go over the driver registration process. Upon receiving a conditional trainee job offer from Amazon Freight Partner, 160 Driver Academy representative will work to facilitate the driver’s enrollment prior to class start date. This includes enrollment paperwork, DOT Physical and Drug Screening.

Amazon Freight Partner Driver Academy Highlights
- Earn an hourly wage while you learn to obtain your CDL-A license
- Take advantage of thorough training both in classroom and on-the road
- Get an employment with an Amazon Freight Partner before starting the training
- CDL-A training repayment obligation of $8,600 if the driver underwent both CDL-A and finishing training and voluntarily terminates employment before the end of nine months of employment with your company, or
- Finishing training repayment obligation of $5,000 if a driver underwent only finishing training and voluntarily terminates employment before the end of six months of employment with your company.
