Job Description

Temporary Without Benefits, 100% Full Time Equivalent

At Hilo Medical Center, a nationally-recognized "Top Performing" hospital, the Laundry Worker is a valuable member of our team. This position provides adequate supplies of clean sanitary linen and garments to all departments, operates laundry equipment connected with washing linen, garments and other articles of clothing. All washable linens and garments are collected on a daily basis for laundering. Performs other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

Experience: One (1) year of commercial or institutional laundering experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Knowledge Of: Care and operation of laundry equipment; the uses and methods of preparing various solutions.

Ability To: Operate laundry machines and equipment; determine the length of time required for different washes; prepare solutions; follow oral instructions.

Medical Examination Requirement

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

Shift Details

Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary based on hospital operations. Services are provided 24/7.
