A Typical Day

The Grounds Keeper is responsible for maintaining an audit ready outside environment and area at the cheese plant site and permeate plant site.

Job Responsibilities

• Operations of basic power and landscaping tools, street sweeper, forklift, etc.
• Anticipate and take care of issues that would negatively affect quality audits of the grounds.
• Troubleshoot and make basic repairs to plumbing and sprinkler systems.
• Maintain inventory of supplies.
• Support WR / Grounds Mechanic.
• Perform general housekeeping tasks in and around the wastewater treatment facilities, main plant area, and permeate plant area.
• Develop an understanding of the site storm water and waste management regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all entry areas are safe from hazards like snow and ice.
• Manage and maintain the compactor and roll off dumpster areas
• Comfortable with direct customer interface across entire HCC organization in a professional and positive manner.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed according to HCC safety policies.
• Create work orders using SAP.
• Demonstrate a high level of communication, cooperation and teamwork with all levels in Hilmar Cheese Company.
• Completion of annual OSHA required safety training.
• Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off.
• Help coach and train teammates and participate in on the job, buddy training.
• Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
• Participate in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required.
• Prioritize safety above all other job duties by having a safety first approach at all times.
• Report any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your teams and follow up.
• Participate in departmental safety teams.
• Promote Company Culture
• Achieve common business goals through cooperative alignment with all departments.

What You Will Need

• English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
• 2 years of work experience in a similar field
• Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to lift 60 lbs.
• Pass the 4 Post Offer Employment Testing (POET).

What Will Put You Ahead

• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• SAP experience
• Heavy equipment operations experience
• Outside grounds or farm work experience.
• General understanding of basic maintenance equipment and tools.
