Pay Range: $25.76 to $36.58
The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) provides community outreach Athletic Training services for area high school athletic programs and event coverage in the local area as well as a portion of their time will be in the clinical setting. This position works variable shifts, days and evenings, potentially seven (7) days per week during peak seasons. The ATC may travel as needed to away games. This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision off campus throughout the community. The ATC will be required to demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously. ATC responsibilities include: preparing athletes for practice/competition, evaluation of injuries to determine referral needs, maintaining a medical file on all athletes, develop conditioning programs for injured or non-injured athletes, acting as a community advocate for the organization in all interactions, and other duties as assigned. The ATC will act as liaison between physicians and athletes’ parents, between the school district administrators/coaches and the organization’s management.
The ATC may be responsible for supervising the patient care activities of student athletic trainers, and to assist with other educational and research activities conducted by the department, hospital, or educational institution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performed majority of the time:
· Attends athletic competitions and performs athletic training duties.
· Recognizes, prevents, and treats athlete’s musculoskeletal injuries.
· Documents and treats within the parameters of education, skill, and Professional Practice Act.
· Supervision of non-certified trainers and students.
· Maintains an organized and clean athletic training room.
· Promotes accident prevention and reports potential hazards to maintain a safe environment.
· Files School District Incident reports as needed.
Clinical Setting
· Bills in congruence with documented patient treatment.
· Provides physical rehabilitation to, Adolescent, adult and geriatric patients based on principles of growth and development life stages.
· Refers to or communicated with supervising therapists regarding concerns about patients as needed.
· Provides patient education and therapeutic exercise instruction as appropriate to clinical condition and compatible with overall treatment plan.
Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:
· Participates in continuing education seminars, department in-services, safety training and other educational opportunities within the hospital and community.
· Actively participates in performance reviews.
· Participates in community outreach opportunities and works to market programs and services to the community.
· Completes minimum of 40 hours of clinical training as applies to the position.
· Maintains CPR certification.
· Maintains athletic trainer certification/registration.
Decision making and budget responsibilities:
· Impact limited to the employee on the clinical side.
· Each High School will have a supply budget and the ATC will have some input on what is purchased with these funds.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
· Bachelor degree or Bachelor of Science with a focus in Athletic Training.
Preferred
· Master’s preferred.
Experience:

· 1-3 years of Athletic Training experience at a high school or professional team.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
Required
· Current unencumbered Athletic Trainer license/registration as established by the State of Oregon.
· Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
· American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, required within 90 days of hire.

· Provides clinical care activities utilizing evidenced based practice to insure a quality culture, and to satisfy customer needs for services, outcomes, and costs.
· Maintenance of mandated Evidence Based Medicine Continuing Education Requirements.
· Extensive knowledge of Concussion protocols and return to play criteria.
· Demonstrates proficiency in operation, maintenance and use of all therapeutic equipment available in specific clinical environment.
· Complies with Joint Commission guidelines for education and patient care.
· Demonstrates confidentiality regarding patient and co-worker information according to PHI level of access.
· Uses protective equipment and takes appropriate precautions to assure personal safety.
