OPEN POSITION:
Position: Unit Secretary/CNA
Department: Med/Surg
Location: Cass City, MI
Hours: Part Time. Days. No Holidays. Partial Benefits.
Primarily performs clerical and reception duties, monitoring patient monitors, responding to codes, and assisting with patient care on the Med/Surg and Emergency Department. Functions as the key communications source and requisitions supplies, equipment, and services as directed. Secondary provides basic nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of professional nursing staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Current CNA certification
Excellent Computer Skills
Previous hospital experience or completion of course for nursing assistant preferred
Interpersonal skills: supportive, active listener, effective communicator with patients, family members, medical and hospital staff, and ability to work as a team member
Ability to positively interact at all levels of the organization and with all physicians proactively
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform clerical duties related to procedures and tests such as admission, discharge, transfer, surgery, and death. Including sending appropriate patient documents down to medical records including EMTALA, consents, changing stickers on charts with status changes, etc.
Keeps all other departments informed of pertinent information on patients (relating to their scope of care). Photocopies information, files information, and answers the telephone, takes messages, makes appointments for patients, and directs calls.
Requisition supplies and equipment, maintenance, and repair services, and prepare related forms. Maintain supplies for floor.
Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient’s medical treatment.
Maintains own competency of skills through education programs, in-service, care learnings, (Basic Life Support) BLS, and learning new equipment and policies.
Prepares and equips patient room upon admission, obtains personal needs for patient’s hospital stay and maintains neatness of room.
Maintain patient confidentiality of patient and unit care data.
Basic clinical evaluation and assessment skills are required for all age groups of patients serviced by the facility for which the individual may be involved in the patient care including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Obtains and documents patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, respiration, pulse, and blood glucose levels.
Assists licensed caregiver with all patient ADL needs and with other activities as directed, including swing beds.
