Position

-Technology Instructor for a small K-8 public school in Oakland (OUSD)

Hours

-Monday through Friday, up to 35 hours per week

-Schedule will be set to coordinate with overall school schedule

-Required to be on campus for in-person instruction during the 23-24 school year.

Qualifications / Skills

-Bachelor’s degree preferred

-Teaching credential preferred

-Valid Math, Computer, or Industrial Arts and Technology Education Certification preferred

-1 years working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred

-Experience integrating technology into the classroom

-Knowledge of subject matter, including State Standards and subject-specific frameworks

-Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles

-Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data

-Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices

-Familiar with various educational programs such as Keyboarding Without Tears, Tinker, Google Classroom and Clever is a plus

-Recess supervision

-Cyber security

-Chrome book instruction

-Co-teaching

Compensation

-Employed by PTA; not a district position

-Salary based on experience / credentials. Range $54,000 to $63,000. The hourly salary range Hillcrest reasonably expects to pay for this position is $43 to $45. Where a prospective candidate will be paid within salary range will depend on the number of hours worked.

Seeking

Technology instructor needed for small K-8 public school to teach technology classes, guide students in learning about technology, and support the school’s technology infrastructure. The position requires flexibility, creativity, and an ability to collaborate. We’re looking for someone who will be a technology specialist, an instructional partner and a teacher -- someone who can empower students to become enthusiastic, skilled and discerning users of technology.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Teach assigned schedule for:
• K-6 Technology
• 7th/8th grade Technology elective
• Develop scope and sequence and/or syllabus for each assigned grade
• Develop expertise with technological tools that drive student learning.
• Adapt teaching methods and schedule as needed to support any revised school plans (ex: remote learning, hybrid learning, etc.)
• Assist in supporting school-wide information technology infrastructure
• Maintain school’s OUSD website, collaborating with PTA webmaster as needed
• Communicate regularly with families as partners in supporting their children’s education
• Supervise students during recess and lunch as assigned
• Attend all school staff meetings and professional learning opportunities, as appropriate.
• Participate in school-wide activities and programs as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Principal

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.5 per week
