Hill View Montessori Charter Public School, a public school serving 306 students in grades K-8 using the Montessori approach to educating children, located in historic Haverhill, Massachusetts (35 miles north of Boston on the New Hampshire border,15 miles from the Atlantic Ocean), is seeking a Reading Specialist for the 2024-2025 school year. This position is a salaried position and is eligible for a full healthcare benefits package. This is a full-time position.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing targeted reading intervention programs for students in Grades 1-6. As a Reading Specialist, you will work closely with classroom teachers, parents, and other educators to implement effective literacy strategies that enhance student learning and achievement.

Responsibilities

• Assess student reading levels using formal standardized assessments and informal assessments
• Develop and implement individualized and small group reading intervention programs
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction in literacy
• Provide coaching and professional development to teachers on best practices in reading instruction
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and strategies for support at home
• Stay current with research on reading instruction and literacy education

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Reading, or a related field
• Valid Massachusetts Teaching License with a Reading Specialist endorsement for Grades 1-6, preferred but not required
• At least two years of experience as a Reading Specialist or in a similar role
• Strong understanding of the Science of Reading and experience with various literacy intervention programs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
• Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools for literacy instruction
