Hill & Knowlton is seeking a Fellow to join our dynamic and award-winning team for an immediate start focused on the energy transition. This is a formal fellowship designed to help further develop skills in communications, project organization, traditional desk-side research, and media relations.

This is an opportunity to be a part of a team supporting clients across the energy spectrum, including renewable energy, clean tech, LNG, and oil and gas. Qualified candidates need to possess energy knowledge and experience and/or a strong aptitude, curiosity and passion for climbing a steep learning curve. 

Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated and skillful communicator who demonstrates strong writing skills and can manage deadlines for multiple clients, while still creating quality work. We’re looking for a solution-oriented team player with a positive attitude and a proactive approach.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitoring relevant industry news for daily/weekly client and industry reports
  • Conducting research and compiling detailed information on industry events, awards, reporter targeting, briefing documents, editorial calendars and bylined articles
  • Developing media pitches and specific reporter approaches based on recent/relevant coverage and the news cycle
  • Maintaining master energy media lists and client media lists
  • Conducting media outreach and scheduling client interviews with reporters 
  • Actively participating in team, staff and client meetings, and proactively seeking and sharing relevant information when appropriate
  • Being on call for crisis media monitoring
  • Proactively working with supervisors to establish and track career goals, training and skill-building needs
  • Assisting team members with additional assignments as needed

What you’ll need to get here:

  • Undergraduate degree needed, and a plus if it’s in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business or related studies
  • Previous PR, corporate communications and/or public relations agency-based internship experience, with focus on energy preferred
  • Strong research skills with the ability to analyze and summarize findings
  • Excellent writer with knowledge of AP style guidelines
  • Results-focused approach and willingness to go the extra mile 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Highly detail-oriented, with excellent time-management skills
  • Solid, pro-active organizational skills
  • Driven by curiosity, with self-awareness to ask questions
  • Self-starter who is eager to learn and jump in on multiple projects
  • Organized, poised, personable team player able to think on your feet
  • Energetic problem solver with excellent multitasking skills
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

The compensation for this position at the time of this posting is $20.00 per hour. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
