Help us help others:

The Risk Management & Safety Specialist is primarily responsible for minimizing risk and focusing collaborative attention to safety and accident prevention measures for all Hill Country MHDD Center locations. As a part of our Human Resources and Quality Management teams, you will lead efforts in assuring adoption and execution of safety measures by applicable team members, assist with assessment and continuous improvement of safety and loss control efforts, applicable data entry, communications, and employee relations and training tasks. You will work with other team members also assigned with training and risk management and loss control duties.

You will get to:

  • Review and access investigations for potential risk hazards at all locations.
  • Develop buy-in and commitment amongst team members for safe work practices.
  • Develop reliable feedback network amongst team members to help ensure consistent application of safe work practices.
  • Give assessments for the potential hazards and corrective action.
  • Report potential risk hazards to management team.
  • Determine what types of risks could affect the company in all departments.
  • Identify risk and develop strategies to prevent potential activities or practices.
  • Work close with the QM and Compliance departments.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly.
  • Make quarterly visits to all the centers to look for risk hazards.
  • Develop and write risk management policies and procedures.
  • Audit processes and procedures.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Train employees in risk management and safe work practices.
  • Record and investigate Worker’s Comp incidents.
  • Monthly W/C report
  • Conduct Safety meetings quarterly with Safety officers.
  • Ensure contractual compliance with state mandated safety standards (Disaster Plans, Emergency Evacuation Plans, and Fire Drills)

Qualifications


You’ll definitely need:

  • Associate degree in Safety and Loss Control, Management, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Have two plus (2 ) years of experience performing the full range of safety and loss control duties in a multi-location organization, leading safety committees, best practice training, and problem-solving functions.
  • To maintain a valid Texas State Driver’s License.
  • To have current automobile insurance and the ability to travel to work locations frequently.

  • Employ excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with team.
  • Maintain a well-organized calendar, files, and prioritize effectively ensure completion of duties.
  • Skill in managing competing and changing priorities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and with a high level of typing and communication proficiency.
  • Attention to detail – must possess the ability to maintain high accuracy and thoroughness when executing tasks.
  • Sustain a calm demeanor when under pressure to handle sometimes difficult situations.
  • Provide exemplary customer service and care for your team.
  • Work cooperatively with others and be punctual and consistent in attendance because your people will rely on you!
  • Work autonomously to complete assignments.
  • Represent HCMHDDC in the community as a responsible resource.
  • Other duties as assigned.
