Overview:
The Sanitation Manager is responsible for upholding and improving sanitation standards within the food manufacturing facility. This includes creating, executing, and overseeing the Master Sanitation Schedule and SSOP’s, ensuring compliance with regulations, customer expectations, and industry best practices. Additionally, they supervise the cleanliness of food contact areas and manufacturing equipment to maintain required company cleanliness standards at the plant while ensuring quality and safety objectives are met.
This role primarily involves first shift hours, with occasional off-shift or weekend work as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Encourage integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement, and positive interactions with all team members, customers, and vendors.
- Conduct thorough assessments of manufacturing processes, equipment, and work environments to identify potential health hazards.
- Provide direction and supervision to sanitation employees and implement effective control measures to minimize hazards.
- Manage the master sanitation schedule/program for all processing and packaging equipment according to company and FDA standards.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance industrial hygiene programs and policies based on industry advancements and emerging issues.
- Stay abreast of local, state, and federal regulations related to industrial hygiene and food manufacturing to ensure compliance.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify compliance issues and health risks.
- Assist in plant investigations and offer recommendations for corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver training programs on health and safety practices for employees.
- Ensure sanitation objectives are achieved efficiently, minimizing labor and maintenance costs.
- Coordinate shift activities to ensure sanitation objectives are met safely and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure adherence to standards.
- Monitor CIP equipment operation and chemical usage to maintain compliance and safety.
- Maintain positive relationships with employees, corporate stakeholders, and the community.
- Adhere to regular attendance policies as per company guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
- A Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Industrial Hygiene/Sanitation, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and FDA standards.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, exposure monitoring, and developing training programs.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
