About The Role

Highspot is hiring a Payroll Director to oversee the entire payroll department both domestically and internationally. The role will lead and manage a global payroll team, ensure all payroll is processed accurately and timely, work with our external service providers, partner with HR/Legal/Finance on joint initiatives, ensure we have the appropriate controls in place, and build a global payroll team with processes that can support Highspot as it rapidly expands and scales. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a well-funded company in hyper-growth mode. The role reports to the VP of Accounting and Financial Operations with high visibility to executive leaders such as the Chief Financial Officer, General Counsel, and the Chief People Officer.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processes for employees located in various countries, including processing payroll for employees accurately and on time
  • Ensure compliance with diverse international payroll regulations, including tax laws, labor regulations, and statutory requirements in each country of operation
  • Lead and mentor an international team located in different regions, providing payroll strategy, roadmap, and coaching to ensure consistent deliverables and processes which scale
  • Manage relationships with payroll service providers, tax authorities, and other relevant partners in different countries, ensuring compliance with local requirements and alignment with company standards
  • Manage our payroll service providers to ensure compliance, best in class service, and efficiency 
  • Coordinate external audits of global payroll processes, responding to inquiries from regulatory agencies and ensuring adherence to international standards, controllership, and best practices
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Legal, and other departments to address cross-border payroll issues, facilitate international transfers, and ensure alignment on global payroll strategy and policies.
  • Be a senior leader in our accounting department and broader CFO org with opportunity to mentor and develop the broader team
  • Continuous learning and develop through keeping up with changes in international payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, and proactively update policies and SOPs to maintain compliance and mitigate risks
Your background
  • Deep knowledge and application of domestic and international payroll regulations and filings
  • Experience with international expansion and payroll consequences of geo expansion
  • Ability to investigate, understand, and present on payroll/HR compliance requirements in different geographies
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in payroll management, with 5 leading global payroll functions
  • History of partnering with stakeholder groups on business initiatives
  • Ability to excel in a flexible, fast pace work environment and possess the ability to multitask and prioritize meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • History and desire to drive efficiencies and process improvements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience leading and developing a team of payroll professionals 
  • Flexible, organized, and detail oriented
  • Experience building an offshore team is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or CPP certification preferred.
