Highlands Ranch Metro and Centennial Water & Sanitation Districts is Hiring a Pickleball Instructor Near Highlands, CO

 

We would love to have you join our proud team at the Highlands Ranch Metro District as a Pickleball Instructor! The position provides skilled instruction and supervision for the youth and adult pickleball clinics and classes provided by the Metro District. The Pickleball Instructor is responsible for teaching the basics and up to intermediate / advanced skills of pickleball and for the development of lesson plans.

All applicants must be age 18 or older, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, must be dependable and have a strong desire to be a team player. Our seasonal positions are highly valued and help us continue providing the Highlands Ranch community with outstanding parks and recreation programs and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching youth and adults the basics to intermediate/advance skills of pickleball.
  • Development of lesson plans
  • Supervise and control conduct at program sites in a safe and professional manner.
  • Attend all program dates as scheduled.
  • Assist in the recommendation and evaluation of improvements to programs that will provide maximum enjoyment for all the participants.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Preps fields or program area for play if necessary.
  • Is visible and available to staff, coaches, participants, and fans to answer questions.
  • Listens to concerns, resolves problems, and corrects inappropriate behavior. Communicate any issues to Field Supervisor and/or Recreation Coordinator.
  • Assists with ensuring the safety of participants, maintains discipline, makes weather-based decisions, and assists with handling complaints from the public. 
  • Performs first aid as required, depending on training and certification. 
  • Complies with District and department rules and regulations, policies, and procedures. 
  • Submit any accident or reports immediately to Recreation Coordinator on District provided forms.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED 

Supervises volunteers, spectators, and participants in pickleball programs they are scheduled to instruct.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Highschool diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Practical experience in athletics, recreation, physical education, or related field.
  • Previous experience as a pickleball instructor is preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of officiating, sports, and recreation.
  • Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, officials, coaches, volunteers, participants, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of Pickleball and a desire to teach the game to all ages and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Phone/cell phone, automobile, and various sports equipment are used in recreation programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
