JOB DESCRIPTION 

Sports & Recreation Program Manager

The Sports and Recreation Program Manager is directly responsible for coordinating all events, ministry programs and community activities in the Tolleson Family Activity Center gymnasium. 

Reports To: Director of Guest Experience

FLSA Status: Exempt

Campus: Highland Park

Working Hours: This is a Part-Time position that will work up to 24 hours per week.

Anticipated Schedule: Monday and Wednesday 8:45-12:30 and Tuesday / Thursday 8:45am-3pm (occasional evening and/or weekend hours)with up to 4 additional hours as needed

During certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter. Presence on occasional Sundays is also requested to ensure that one has the firsthand understanding of the church culture.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Gym Management

• Partner with ministries to support gym programming that helps fulfill the mission of the Church
  • Youth – Hang Time, Seasonal Events
  • Belong - Day Programming, Explorers, Night Owls 
  • Kids - Summer Camps, Family Open Gym, Family & Team Rentals
  • Adults - Fellowship Events, Adult Open Gym, Pickleball, Aerobic Dance
• Collaborate with ministries to create new gym programming that aligns with our Discipleship Strategy
• Coordinate scheduling of gym events through eSPACE, event scheduling software
• Ensure that contracts, waivers, background checks, and MinistrySafe training are completed by applicable user groups prior to gym use
• Manage gym supervisors who are needed for programming outside manager’s business hours
  • Men’s Open Gym & Family Open Gym
• Manage all gym equipment and schedule any maintenance requests with Building Services
• Maintain the annual budget for the gym 
• Work with the Business Office on revenue and receipt processes
• Collaborate with the CFO on all use of the gym by outside groups for pricing, contracts, etc.

Education and Desired Skills:

• Undergraduate degree required
• Experience in Event Scheduling or Recreation strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong organizational skills
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills in spoken and written form
• CPR certification is required; relevant fitness certifications strongly preferred

Preferred Software Experience: 

• Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, Google Drive) and the capacity to learn new software 
• Competency with event management software and calendaring of events

Physical Demands:

• Ability to setup and move various equipment around the gym
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. when necessary
