Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center is Hiring a Sexual Assault Counselor Near Marble Falls, TX

Summary

The Sexual Assault Counselor takes an active part in the development and delivery of counseling services for adult and adolescent sexual abuse survivors and their families including individual, family, and/or group therapy. Counselors provide counseling/intake services at Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center (HLFCC) and/or offsite properties per collaborative working agreements with participating agencies. Counselors provide crisis care for clients who are experiencing trauma. In addition to client services, counselors develop and present staff trainings and public speeches describing counseling services. Counselors regularly collaborate with peers and attend supervisions to ensure best practice client care. Counselors adhere to codes of ethics and recognized standards of practice as regulated by the state of Texas. Counselors directly report to the Program Director and participate in the on-call rotation to accompany sexual assault survivor through the forensic examination process.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized and trauma-informed counseling services for sexual assault survivors and their families including individual, family and/or group therapy.
  • Deliver victim-centered counseling with the goal of supporting the survivor's recovery process through listening, encouraging, validating, reflecting, giving resources, and providing a safe counseling environment.
  • Maintain accurate client records including intakes, case notes, treatment plans, assessments, consent forms, releases of information, and other information reflecting contact with, for, or about the client.
  • Monitor caseload for follow-up, documenting opening and closing case dates.
  • With concurrence of the Executive Director, testify in court and/or answer requests for client information.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to accompany sexual assault victims through the forensic exam process.
  • Counselors must stay current with continuing education, licensing, and insurance requirements in the state of Texas.

Professional and Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work or related field from and accredited college or university is required.
  • Successful candidate will be a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or hold or be able to hold a similar license in the state of Texas.
  • Interns and those pursuing licensure for the aforementioned licenses are welcome and encouraged to apply. If applicable must provide own clinical supervisor.
  • If applicable, professional liability insurance coverage is required.
  • Experience in working with sexual assault, domestic violence and/or human trafficking survivors is preferred.
  • Experience working with ages 12 and up who present with behavior and/or emotional concerns such as abuse, trauma, neglect, domestic violence, family breakdown, or bereavement is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function as a part of a team and work in collaboration with outside agencies.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to disclosures of victimization and to work effectively in crisis situations.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent services and work with diverse staff and clientele in an empathetic and non-judgmental manner.
  • Strong organizational and written communication skills.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record required.

Special Administrative Knowledge

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate some computer knowledge and be willing to be trained to use internal data base and other programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.
  • Ability to maintain professional integrity and confidentiality.
  • Good telephone etiquette customer service skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
