Highland Homes is Hiring an Estimator I Near Plano, TX

Highland Homes is currently accepting resumes for an Estimator position. A Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management or other related field is preferred. The selected candidate will also preferably have a minimum of one year estimating experience. This position will be responsible for supporting purchasing and construction personnel in all estimating activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistent material takeoffs in various databases for all cities and all divisions of Highland Homes.
  • Review and research the Takeoff Variance Report in order to consistently calculate takeoff accuracy progression.
  • Monitor, verify and update all takeoff change requests from field managers and Purchasing.
  • Responsible for material quantity takeoffs on all Prototype releases, plan revisions and custom starts.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all division construction management and purchasing personnel.
  • Assist and support field with specific construction needs including familiarity with building codes and officials, providing training for builders as needed and providing appropriate construction standards and details.
  • Work closely with field to resolve estimating problems on all new and existing plans, focusing on high volume plans and Prototypes.
  • Liaison between field and design team to facilitate communication on structural and estimating problems and resolutions.
  • Other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree preferred with concentration in Construction Management or Business.
  • Excellent communicator (oral and written) including the desire to ask questions and learn from others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and familiar with the Internet required.
  • “Brix” software knowledge preferred.
  • “Buzzsaw” experience preferred.
  • Capable of estimating by hand and with an Auto Cad aided estimating system (Timberline).
  • Proven customer service skills required.
  • Strong organization skills with keen ability to prioritize, multi-task and pay close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze numbers and information and produce clear, communicative reports.
