The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) has 26 faculty members, 440 undergraduates, and 190 graduate students. It has cross-cutting research programs in biomedical engineering; communications and signal processing; computer engineering; controls and robotics; electromagnetics and remote sensing; and lasers, optics, and applications. In 2015, the National Science Foundation selected the ECE department to lead the nation to scalable and sustainable change in engineering education through its Revolutionizing Engineering Departments (RED) program. Impressively, CSU was the first ECE department chosen by the NSF for this highly competitive initiative of national importance. The department participates in the CSU Information Science and Technology Center (ISTeC), the CSU-CHILL National Radar Facility, and the NSF Engineering Research Center for Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere. It is home to the headquarters of the NSF Engineering Research Center for Extreme Ultraviolet Science and Technology. **Position Summary**

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at Colorado State University is seeking a highly motivated individual to manage the staff and it's financial and human resources to advance the mission of the department. The position will serve as a strategic advisor to the department head on a wide variety of issues, including but not limited to implementation and assessment of short- and long-term strategic plans, as well as oversight and management of budget and finances. A detailed understanding of finance and accounting; budgeting, forecasting, and planning; and effective management practices is required. Considerable understanding of the significance associated with the scientific research and teaching missions of the faculty is necessary in order to oversee current support for departmental activities and to plan creatively for the department's future.

This position will also be responsible for researching, preparing, analyzing, and managing information related to projects, people, and programs. Independent judgment and analytical skills must be exercised to understand, interpret, and manage data related to faculty research, an academic department and scholarly work. All areas of responsibility for this position warrant a great deal of analysis to determine the best approach to projects within a broad set of general guidelines. This position requires the flexibility to deal effectively with a range of people, such as faculty, researchers, international scholars, university administrators, staff personnel, and students. The position may require occasional work on evenings and weekends, as necessary.

**Required Job Qualifications**

* Bachelor's degree required in business, accounting, finance, management, or related field;

* At least 6 years of professional experience demonstrating management and leadership skills

* At least 3 years of professional supervisory experience;

* Excellent analytical skills and budget analysis experience

* Experience working closely with HR on personnel matters

* Experience developing, enforcing, and executing financial policies and procedures

* Evidence of strong professional written communication skills

**Preferred Job Qualifications**

* Experience working within an academic setting

* Demonstrated knowledge and ability to foster and work within culturally diverse communities

* Demonstrated experience researching and presenting persuasive proposals on a variety of financial and administrative matters

* Experience translating program planning into operational and fiscal requirements and advising leadership on regulations and courses of action

* Experience weighing instructional and research needs, developing strategic plans, and advising faculty and staff of possible outcomes of different scenarios

* Quantitative skills with the ability to define problems accurately and apply an appropriate analytical model such as Excel or database statistical tools.

* Strong organizational and complex problem-solving skills, follow-through, and attention to detail

* Experience presenting to a variety of audiences

* Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, Kuali Financial System, and Symphony
