High Star Traffic is Hiring a Mechanic III - IL Near Bartlett, IL
Summary: A mechanic III will have strong knowledge and experience with light automotive, diesel, electrical and fabrication for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the company’s fleet of vehicles, small construction equipment, and specialty construction equipment such as equipment used in striping, water blasting, and other critical traffic control equipment.

- Repair and maintain company vehicles and equipment including:
- Diesel & gas vehicles, manual & automatic transmissions.
- Electronic message boards, arrow boards & trailers.
- Small equipment such as compressors, blower’s forklifts and skid steers.
- Maintain repair logs, inventory, and other necessary paperwork.
- Effectively communicate with coworkers and management to ensure timetables for repair of equipment and vehicles to minimize downtime.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain a clean, organized & safe workspace.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and change as needed in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure all work and material handling follow established safety procedures and regulations.
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced maintenance staff.
- Other projects and initiatives that drive organizational goals and results.

- HS Diploma or GED preferred or equivalent Certifications & Experience.
- Valid C Class License with a good driving record. (Class A CDL Required)
- Strong experience with Hydraulics, Brakes, Suspension.
- 5 years working heavy duty vehicle maintenance preferred.
- Ability to work on call, nights and weekends as work schedules require.
- Must have strong problem-solving skills and a desire to create solutions.
- Prior experience working under tight deadlines with changing priorities.
- Ability to uphold regulatory and company standards.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal or external customers.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel and crouch for long periods of time while using hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; walk, talk, hear, and speak.
- The employee is moderately required to sit and lift and/or move 50 pounds (or more with lift assist). Employees will be required to utilize different types of equipment, vehicles, and tools. Employees may be required to perform pushing, pulling, climbing, and crawling as needed.
- This position will work primarily in an enclosed uncontrolled climate shop environment but may travel to off-site locations and therefore will require wearing all PPE depending on circumstance which may include safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, high-visibility safety vest and/or safety pants and/or steel toed footwear. At times client contract driven PPE may also be required.
