High's is Hiring an Assistant Group Controller Near Lancaster, PA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for High Steel Structures’ forecasting, budgeting and reporting, with a heavy emphasis on project accounting, requiring business partnering with the Project Management team. It is also responsible for the development and maintenance of proper accounting control procedures, designed to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and various tax regulations. The position will interact with all levels of SBU and upper management, assist and participate in decision making, provide consultation on financial and analytical information and advice across all aspects of the business involving financial matters (i.e., financial statements, operational and financial analysis/modeling, forecast/plans/budgets, etc.)

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting or Finance. 7-10 years or more of progressive management accounting experience, part of which may be waived if employee has an advanced certification (CPA or CMA) and/or MBA. An advanced degree or certification is desirable. Experience and knowledge of advanced analytical methods, financial software applications & solutions (i.e., spreadsheets, databases & ERP systems), budgeting, planning, and forecasting experience is required. Experience and knowledge of percentage of completion/construction accounting preferred but not required. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Requires maturity and a high level of professionalism.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Group Controller.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Monthly preparation of financial statements including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cashflow, ensuring they are in strict compliance with GAAP and tax laws for High Steel Structures.
  • Review and monitoring of project financial performance including preparing and explaining variance analysis to budget, forecast, and projection.
  • Preparation of budgets, forecasts, strategic plans, and near-term projections for High Steel Structures involving complex financial modeling techniques using in Microsoft Excel.
  • Take a leadership role in understanding the different systems used (SAP, Hard Dollar), for project-based reporting and be able to troubleshoot questions from project managers or SBU management as needed.
  • Preparation and interpretation of cost and variance analysis, providing advice and counsel to SBU management and finance leadership.
  • Take a leadership role in the identification and development of information (both financial and operational) for SBU and upper management, used in decision making and necessary for the successful operation of the business.
  • Support the development of financial models to assess capital investments, inclusive of scenario analysis, vetting key assumptions, preparing presentation to management, and providing insights into investment decision.
  • Support other SBUs as required with reporting, analysis, or process support.
  • Ensure that proper controls and procedures are in place to; a) safeguard the company assets and reputation b) maintain an accurate and reconciled general ledger c) comply with GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Coordinate the gathering of tax information needed by the tax department and auditors.
  • Assist with annual outside audit, working closely with outside auditors to ensure all schedules are met, minimizing adjustments and unfavorable disclosures.
  • Provide support in the process of acquisitions and divestitures, evaluating options and risk assessment, determining business valuation using acceptable valuation methods and industry data, participating in due diligence, and final decision making.
