Salary: $55-$65k (experience & education dependent)

High Point provides a range of community-based services including Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI). CBHI services provide individualized, intensive therapy and support to youth and their families. CBHI connects families struggling with mental health and substance use to community resources, enabling them to work towards self-sufficiency. 

High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency whose mission is to treat and prevent substance use disorders and mental illness. High Point has programs located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts offering a full continuum of care for substance use and mental health treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. In-Home Therapist Requirements

In-Home Therapy is a structured, consistent, strength-based therapeutic relationship between a license-eligible clinician, the youth (under age 21) diagnosed with a Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED), and family. Interventions are designed to enhance and improve the family’s capacity to improve the youth’s functioning in the home and community and may prevent the need for the youth’s admission to an inpatient hospital, psychiatric residential treatment facility or other treatment setting.

In-Home Therapist Duties & Responsibilities

  • Engage youth and families in services

  • Compliance with Federal Regulations, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patients

  • Compliance with and working knowledge of all applicable HPTC policies and program procedures including but not limited to those relating to ethics/boundaries and duties of role

  • Maintain safety and security of client/staff at all times

  • Provide intensive family therapy with creative, individualized interventions

  • Ensure timely contact of Program Director/Authorities in event of a crisis/emergency

  • Attend all mandatory trainings, staff meetings, and supervision meetings as required

  • Maintain appropriate level of productivity/billable hours

  • Collaborate with outside providers as indicated, often acting as leader of youth’s treatment team

  • Obtain insurance authorizations and requests for additional units in required time frame

  • Complete comprehensive assessment, CANS, service plans, crisis/safety plan, discharge/transition summaries, and progress notes according to regulation timelines and with excellent quality

  • Complete all required billing and expense reports in required time frame

  • Investigate and develop community contacts and cooperative networks with other community groups and agencies

  • Refer and link youth and families to appropriate services and levels of care

  • Provide in-vivo support and supervision to Therapeutic Mentors/Therapeutic Training and Support team members

  • Provides after hours, on-call rotation support to program’s caseload

  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director/Designee

In-Home Therapist Minimum Qualifications 

Education & Experience

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Independently Licensed-Eligible Master’s degree or higher in a human service field from an accredited university (LMHC, LICSW, LMFT) and one year experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth
  • If working for the substance abuse specialty team, must have direct experience working with youth and/or families struggling with a Substance Use Disorder

Skills & Abilities

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to accurate assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of behavioral health, developmental, and social/emotional needs of youth and families
  • Basic computer skills and ability to navigate an electronic medical record
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage time accordingly
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage crises with supervisor assistance
  • Ability to work with client and families while respecting cultural and linguistic needs
  • Upholds high level of professionalism and excellent boundaries

Working Conditions/Occupational Exposure

In-Home Therapy requires flexibility in work schedules to accommodate the needs of youth and families in the community. This may include working into the early evening and/or on weekends. This position requires travel to the youth, so the candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record (to be determined by HR), and access to a reliable vehicle. The candidate will primarily be delivering services from the community, and will have appropriate technology provided by the company to do so. Some clients may be psychiatrically or behaviorally challenging at times, though there will always be a supervisor on-call to assist with concerns that arise.
