Lumber Inspector

High Country Lumber and Mulch LLC is seeking a certified lumber inspector and quality control manager for their hardwood lumber sawmill in western North Carolina.

The ideal candidate for this job is self-starting, motivated, takes pride in his or her work, and is willing and able to manage a number of employees and make quick and educated decisions in a high production hardwood sawmill.

Duties :

• Conduct quality inspections regularly to ensure that all lumber is graded correctly, according to both NHLA and company standards
• Utilize quality systems and cutting edge technology to perform accurate grading
• Perform quality audits regularly to identify areas for improvement
• Collect and analyze data related to product quality
• Move throughout the sawmill constantly to ensure quality production from start to finish
• Implement quality assurance procedures to maintain high standards
• Collaborate with and manage employees to ensure an accurate production process at all points in the process
• Assist in maintaining overall quality management processes

Experience :

• NHLA certification required
• Knowledge of QA / QC principles and practices
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in grading
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
