Higginbotham, a privately held, independent insurance and financial services firm that ranks within the top 20 nationwide, has an immediate opening for an Outside Sales Representative in the Houston, TX area.
Our team is seeking an Outside Sales Representative for our HR, Safety, DOT and Contractor Compliance consulting firm. This person should be self-motivated and possess a proven track record of selling in a business-to-business environment. This candidate will need excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills in order to drive revenue growth and develop relationships with current and potential clients. This position will research prospective clients, identify their needs and develop a plan to gain their business.
This is a field-based sales role but requires some time in the office.
This position offers a base salary plus commission. Company laptop, car allowance, fuel cost reimbursement, cell phone allowance, and travel expense reimbursement for approved travel will be provided.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Researches and develops strategies and plans which identify marketing opportunities, direct marketing, and new project development.
Identifies and schedules meetings with prospects through field calls, face-to-face meetings at client locations, phone calls, email, and social media platforms.
Attending networking events, sales conferences, and training sessions.
Responsible for the development, marketing and presentation of new products and services to clients in order to gain their business, with a goal of closing 2-3 new client relationships per month.
Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of sales, methods, cost, and results.
Assist in creating company advertising and sales literature.
Responds to clients’ questions regarding products, services, contracts and pricing.
Follows up with new and existing clients to ensure customer service meets or exceeds expectations on a consistent basis.
Adapts to market forces through creativity and innovation.
Utilizes expertise of consultants when needed to ensure successful sales.
Keeps the management committee informed and provides reports on all activities.
Utilizes sales CRM for leads and sales tracking documentation and reporting.
Attends company meetings to provide updates on sales and marketing activities.
Performs other related duties as required or requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Professional communication and strong negotiation and interpersonal skills required.
Travel is required locally and throughout Texas. Overnight stay travel is possible.
Strong presentation skills required.
Self-motivated with a positive attitude for driving business growth.
Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software and CRM software.
Detail-oriented with effective time management skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
College degree or the equivalent in related work experience
3 years of experience in business-to-business sales
Experience in advertising campaigns, contracting, negotiating, strategic planning and execution required.
