Highland Homes is currently accepting resumes for a Application Development Manager role. The Application Development Manager is a key role responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, design, and implementation of the enterprise's technology stack. The person in this role should have extensive IT experience and a thorough understanding of business processes and strategies. They should be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and have strong leadership and management skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Application Development
    • Define and communicate the technical strategy to align with business goals.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure solutions meet current and future needs.
    • Ensure current and future applications have relevant documentation for supportability and extensibility.
    • Ensure that applications are built based on guidelines specified in the Well Architected Framework.
    • Lead a team of developers to design, code and test secure, scalable applications.
    • Oversee the software development lifecycle to deliver solutions in an optimal way.
    • Evaluate and recommend technologies to support application development.
    • Conduct architecture and code reviews on a regular basis.
    • Keep overall technical debt low.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Work with the senior IT and business leaders to understand business needs and priorities.
    • Work with the planning team to plan and prioritize workloads.
    • Ensure that technology supports the overall business strategy.
  • Team Leadership
    • Build and lead a team of developers and architects.
    • Build an environment that fosters collaboration and innovation.
    • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members to ensure professional growth.
    • Ensure team members are operating efficiently and within budget.
    • Provide input into developing team structure to meet business needs.
  • Security
    • Work with the larger IT team to build a security focused environment.
    • Work with the security team to ensure the environment is sufficiently secured from external and internal threats.
  • Vendor Management
    • Evaluate Statement of Work documentation and negotiate outcomes.
    • Collaborate with external vendors to evaluate and integrate solutions into the enterprise.
    • Hold vendors and contractors accountable for the promised deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field preferred, or 10 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven record of at least 7 years in IT leadership roles, with a significant focus on application development.
  • Strong understanding of agile development methodologies, DevOps practices, and their application to drive efficient software development and deployment.
  • Strong change management skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure-based data solutions, including data storage, processing, analytics, and security.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects, budgets, and resources.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communicator (oral and written), including the desire to ask questions and learn from others required.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to focus on short-term and long-term goals simultaneously.
