Overview
Assists clinical pharmacists in providing an accurate and timely medication distribution system.
Responsibilities
Receives, stickers, and stocks daily medication order. Ensures barcode recognition in facility systems.Performs medication cabinet refill and out-of-date checks on all items. Maintains assigned nursing station med room in compliance with policy.Troubleshoots medication cabinet issues and resolves when possible. Investigates any controlled substance discrepancy in assigned area.Repackages medications into unit-dose packaging and documents appropriate lot number and expiration labeling.Performs non-sterile compounding of topical and oral products.Performs sterile compounding of intravenous products utilizing aseptic technique.Track and logs department temperatures and humidity measurements.Assists in training of new pharmacy technicians.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.Registration: Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician within 30 days of hire date and registration must be in good standing. Technician training must be completed within 6 months of licensure from an Alabama State Board of Pharmacy approved provider.Certification: National Certification with PTCB or ExCPT is preferred but not required.Experience: Pharmacy experience preferred but not required. Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communications skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
