The Child Life Specialist identifies the psychosocial needs of the pediatric patient and provides activities that are developmentally appropriate to satisfy those needs. Executes therapeutic and recreational activities and evaluates the patient’s response/progress toward normal age and appropriate behavior. Schedules volunteers to ensure smooth operation of the Child Life Program during the daytime hours. Act as liaison for activities from the community.
Education: Require Bachelor’s degree in family and child development, child life or related field from an accredited college or university.
License, Certification and/or Registration: Child Life Certification or eligibility to sit for exam. Certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
Experience: Clinical experience in Child Life Program. Internship in Child Life. Supervised by Certified Child Life Specialist.
