About the Opportunity

In partnership with Program Leadership, startup innovative, new, 2-year grant funded, Connected Families Respite Program for families in the Boston area in need of expanding natural support networks to strengthen ongoing parenting of their children with high social emotional needs. Overall programming will include Caregiver Network Facilitator services, in-home and community-based respite provided by trained program staff to one youth or small groups of youth at a time; coordinated parent & youth groups offered to families out of HLW’s Roslindale location on the weekends; with the possibility of coordinating structured overnight family camp experiences at HLW’s New Hampshire Camp Wediko site.

How You Will Be Making a Difference

  • Provide counseling and therapeutic support to clients
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups
  • Provide support to families to address a variety of issues which may include, family communication, parenting skills, substance abuse, domestic violence, self abusive behavior and past trauma
  • Coordinate appropriate resources and services for clients and families. Act as an advocate for the client.
  • Continuously communicate with client collaterals and providers of supportive services. This may include extensive telephone contact and scheduling and attending case conference meetings. Facilitate communication between various providers.
  • Attend staff meetings. Present client material, consult with supervisor and team members on challenging and difficult client issues. Participate in regular individual and group supervision. Attend clinical training and safety practice training.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide quality services.
  • May be required to provide behavioral support
  • May be required to document significant client interactions
  • May be required to carry a mobile device
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Driving Requirements

  • Required to operate a vehicle 
  • Required to have a valid driver’s license and a “satisfactory” driving record
  • Required to have access to a personal vehicle for use during work hours
  • Required to use personal vehicle to transport clients on occasion if/when needed
  • If required to transport clients, must maintain the minimum amounts of liability insurance as required by The Home and/or other regulatory requirements and vehicle registration must be current

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be able to work with people of different backgrounds, languages and ethnicities
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, with the ability to learn new software applications
