Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of PACs and RIS equipment and systems including Radiology department workflow, modality image capture and monitoring of error logs. Quality Assurance activities will be required for workstations, as well as for CR and DR systems.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware issues in the Radiology and Cardiopulmonary departments; resolve issues independently and/or schedules service as needed. Assures that workstations are operating optimally.
• Regularly monitor radiologist workstations to ensure that operating system patches and antivirus software are current and that workstation configurations are consistent with IT best practices.
• Communicate effectively with Radiology Director, Chief of Radiology and Tech Services Director, keeping all appropriately informed of medical imaging operations and system updates.
• Maintain current knowledge of HIS, RIS, PACs and other Radiology and Cardiopulmonary systems through educational opportunities and on the job training.
• Provide training to staff and physicians on new systems, system changes, new equipment and new procedures involving all systems used in the Radiology and Cardiopulmonary departments.
• Develop test plans and participate in all HIS, RIS and PACs system upgrades as the lead technical liaison for Radiology, including responsibility for Meditech Expanse dictionary management.
• Oversee and coordinate all vendor activity including Radiology and Cardiopulmonary systems implementations, upgrades and maintenance. Manages vendors while on site for implementation and support.
• Assess new technology in Radiology and Cardiopulmonary departments to ensure compliance with the Radiology/Cardiopulmonary strategy, IT Information Security Plan, IT department standards and overall IT business strategy.
• Acts as first point of contact for all technology related issues for the Radiology and Cardiopulmonary departments, including off hours support.
• Work with Radiology Director and Tech Services Director to develop operating standards, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain documentation related to equipment inventory and repairs in the Radiology department.
• Actively identify and participate in process improvement opportunities across the organization

 Minimum Education

• Associates Degree in Computer Sciences, Bachelors preferred, or equivalent technical experience 

Minimum Work Experience

• Previous experience in Radiology or clinical field preferred
• Previous experience supporting PACS and RIS equipment and systems

Required Skills

• Critical thinking skills and ability to solve complex problems
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to articulate in a non-technical manner if needed depending on the audience.
