Qualifications
Essential Job Function
Works with all students in the Exceptional Education job training and transition program (Life Skills and Career Prep), both in the classroom and out, in meeting State requirements of Occupational Course of Study
Supervises and assists in training and motivating students in school-based enterprise projects. Examples: school store, job assignments around campus and other school factory-type projects decided upon to fulfill 300 hours of school-based instruction (9th and 10th grade level)
Performs clerical work for assigned teacher(s) as requested for needs in this transition program
Helps set up job sites, specific time, and job duties for community-based instruction to fulfill 240 hours of non-paid real job experience for students (11th-grade level)
Transports students off campus to work their sites for community-based instruction during the school day and trains/supervises/motivates them while they are there
Transports or accompanies groups of students to work enclaves (community-based instruction) during a class period or without the teacher in charge
Completes on-the-job evaluations for students on a regular/daily basis. Gives a copy of these evaluations to the student's teacher when completed
duties are coaching students for jobs in the future
Completes clerical work of the student and the work site: obtaining parent permission and emergency information on state-adopted forms, making copies of these forms, filing copies in a central location, and taking copies along to job sites
Follows the designated check-out/check-in system established by the school when leaving campus with a student
Follows designated transportation policies established by the school when transporting students
Fills in as necessary to help entire Exceptional Education staff perform their duties in providing services to Exceptional Children students
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor Director for Exceptional Children Services

The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below apply to this job classification within Hertford County Public Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Must be able to:
