REPORTS TO: Facilities Director

DIRECT REPORTS: None

POSITION OBJECTIVE: This highly visible position is responsible for implementing the scheduled maintenance program that encompasses the exterior of all campus buildings and grounds.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: The employee must be a Christian with an authentic and a mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who agrees to the HCS Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values and Employee Covenant in both their professional conduct and personal lifestyle. The employee is committed to incorporating these qualities and standards in carrying out the calling to Christian education. This position requires a person who takes pride in their work, ensuring the exterior appearance of the campus is first-class. The Ground Support employee is friendly, works well with others, confident, has an excellent work ethic, and is willing to work closely with, and take direction from the Facilities Director. They must enjoy working outdoors and have a passion grounds- keeping.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma is required. A thorough knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment and 1 to 3 years of landscaping experience is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Landscaping; to include all mowing, weed-eating, trimming and blowing
Maintaining parking lots. including snow removal and salt spreading
Pick up trash and empty trash cans to keep the appearance of the HCS grounds at an expected level
Assist the facilities department with daily routine and projects as needed
Assist the athletic department with field needs, upkeep and concerns
Assist with on-campus events to include set-up/tear-down of equipment and parking
Assist with deliveries to campus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation. Must be able to work outdoors all year in all weather conditions, negotiate the campus, and use all types of mowing, landscaping and snow removal equipment.

EXEMPT STATUS: Non-exempt, hourly

WORK SCHEDULE: 12 month, Monday through Friday day shift position. Occasional demands will require additional hours which may be outside of the regular shift or work days.
