We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic shop assistant to join our growing team. In this entry level position, you will assist shop laborers with a variety of tasks, as well as clean and maintain our shop and storage yard. Requirements to apply:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.

2. Physically capable of working on your feet for the entire day.

3. Physically capable of lifting 80 pounds (such as a bag of Quikrete) for unloading, moving, and loading.

Preferred qualifications (although not required, these are a bonus):

1. Certification or ability to drive a forklift is strongly preferred.

2. Previous experience in manufacturing or shop work, including metalworking classes.

3. Familiarity with hand tools and power tools.

4. Ability to prioritize tasks, when faced with a queue of multiple projects.

5. Strong communication skills.

6. Clean driving record, to allow use of company vehicle for local deliveries and pickups.

7. Any safety certifications (such as OSHA certifications).

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide general assistance around the shop.

2. Assist with loading and unloading materials and products, both in the shop as well as for deliveries.

3. Organize and store raw materials and hardware, as well as completed product.

4. Clean and maintain shop floor and storage areas.

5. Perform basic cleaning and maintenance on equipment (removal of debris, blowing out air filters, etc.).

6. Aid managers and the quality inspection team as needed.

7. Operate equipment such as a forklift, band saw, chop saw, air sander, drill press, disc grinder, and general power tools, during your duties.

8. Utilize a tape measure and be accurate to 1/16".

9. Occasionally make local deliveries and pickups in company vehicles (pickup trucks and vans).

Position is full-time, only (40 hours per week), 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional opportunities for overtime. Starting wage is $15.00 per hour. If you are certified to operate a forklift, have a clean driving record, and have experience in a metalworking shop, starting wage can be up to $18.00 per hour.
