Henry Ford Health - Careers is Hiring a Manager - Finance-Research | Full Time | Troy, MI Near Troy, MI

GENERAL SUMMARY: 
Assists finance leadership with the daily operations of Research within HF Health and MSU. Is responsible for the facilitation of the monthly close, capital, rolling forecast and development of financial business plans for Research including Clinical Trials, Grant Funding. Reports to the Vice President Finance & CFO Henry Ford Medical Group with a dotted line to the Vice President of Research and Medical Education. Responsible for preparing, validating and analyzing detailed financial information; facilitating monthly close, forecasting / budgeting and development of financial business plans, along with ad hoc analyses for departments. Maintaining capital budgets Performing all management functions for employee(s).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and analytical support to the department.
  • Facilitate monthly close process, including identifying and investigating significant or unusual variances.
  • Identify improvements to current processes.
  • Facilitate rolling forecast / budget process for all departments and supporting initiatives within each operating unit.
  • Provide direction / leadership and back up to financial positions reporting directly to operational departments.
  • Liaison between department, accounting and finance.
  • Review analyses prepared by staff.
  • Effectively multitask and manage multiple projects/assignments occurring at the same time.
  • Perform all management functions for staff including formal (mid-year and year-end) evaluations and informal feedback / answering questions.
  • Support other analysts and directors of departments as required.
  • Perform other responsibilities or assignments as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • Master’s Degree and/or CPA preferred.
  • 7 years in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
  • Progressively responsible experience is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory and/or consulting experience is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state funding
  • Proficient with databases and large sets of data
  • In depth analytical skills
