GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care.
Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders, and interprets tests, makes diagnoses, and institutes appropriate treatment programs.
Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other medical care team members to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
Requires a bachelor's degree; completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program; and Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
OR- Requires a BSN; completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; Certification in one of the following: ANA certification exam in a nursing specialty field; National Certification Corporation (NCC); National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates; and/or certification from Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Current BLS or ACLS as required.
Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.
At least 6-12 months hospital experience preferred.
